Another Claus one!

After a call off on Monday Belle Vue were at Winbourne Road at the Poole pirate speedway club.

Unfortunately on Tuesday one of the double up riders Claus Vissing took another knock by getting a collar bone injury in the premier league meeting of Ipswich v Somerset, where there was an incident between Dakota North and Claus. So Craig Cook was the replacement for Vissing.

Poole did not get it their own way all the time. The aces put up a fight in that the pirates were not cruising in all 15 heats. Although heat 15 was the decider with the return of turbo twins Chris Holder and back from injury Darcy Ward.

There was another incident which involved Sam Masters who has consequently injured his wrist.

But the scores on the doors was not enough for the aces to get a point with the score being 49-41.

Weather permitting Poole will face Belle Vue again at Kirkumshulme Lane.

Commend the guys

Last night at Belle Vue there was another rain off, disappointing I know but things like this happen we all know, but it seems to be a lot at the moment. So having withdrawal symptoms from being spoilt from the speedway world cup there was some premier league action with Ipswich witches v Somerset rebels.

So sky did their bit with the premier league. The weather was dry and with some good racing going on, everything was fine, until the rain came….

It seemed to rain from no where, although the riders agreed to carry on. Jason Doyle from Somerset was on fire, he got a paid maximum and was one of the cleanest there. Due to the rain it caused a lot of dirt into mud in a way and if you were not in front you would get very dirty indeed.

Although there was an incident between Dakota North and Claus Vissing where it turned out Claus had a suspected collarbone injury, so he did not ride for the rest of the meeting. So that is a blow.

The Aussies were there in full force, the young one like Cameron Heeps and Rohan Tungate did extremely well in the muddy and slippery conditions. But to all the lads on both teams going out there and having a good go of it and a win for Ipswich as well, seemed a good home win!!

Batch Botch Back

As we all know Troy Batchelor had been “sacked” from Peterborough Panthers when he was unaware that the contract with the club was not being renewed. There was also rumours of maybe going to Swindon Robins because of twitter.

Troy announced he had signed for somewhere and left us on edge, well sorry batch but where you signed aint no surprise sunshine. You signed for Swindon Robins!! Swindon, I think a few us had an idea because of Alun Rossiter hinting on twitter with Troy, Hans Anderson has as well.

Just need to find out about Dakota North…. where is he going????

Speculations and rumours

So we all love to see a good bit of transfer gossip. One place for that is well social network places….anyway a bit of gossip for the Swindon Robins fans, come closer and I will tell you….

It seems that Aussie Troy Batchelor, Hans Anderson and maybe Dakota North are all heading Alun Rossiter’s (Rosco’s) way. What an interesting line up if that happened.

Keep up to date with this and see if Swindon sign these talents!!

Motor Maham

From about March till around the end of October, it is the season of one of my favourite sports speedway. Speedway is a high risk motor sport, where riders are international from countries like Australia, Sweden, Denmark, Great Britain, Russia and also Poland where speedway is the national sport.

All the leagues have high standards in every league. The rules of speedway are very simple. When riding there are four riders on the track. The home team have the helmet colours of red and blue and the away team have the colours white and yellow. When the race has finished which can last seconds have a tally of points.

First= 3 points

Second= 2 points

Third= 1 point

Last= no points

Speedway in Britain has three leagues the elite league, premier league and the national league.

The elite league have teams in 2011 that include- Belle Vue Aces, Birmingham Brummies, Coventry Bees, Eastbourne Eagles, King’s Lynn Stars, Lakeside Hammers, Peterborough Panthers, Poole Pirates, Swindon Robins, Wolverhampton Wolves.

So far the elite league has been interesting in that points have been gained by teams and also lost by teams who you would think have won meetings. The newbies of Birmingham and Kings’s Lynn, these teams have done well in 2011 for the new teams. However some of the riders in the other teams have rode for the new teams at some point when being in the UK.

Some countries speedway is well known, but in the UK it seems it is more known in some places and not others. In Cardiff the British Grand Prix is a spectacle to be seen and it is known as the favourite track of the riders.

There are many youngsters coming through the ranks in speedway and are a credit to themselves. Some have the confidence from day one and others build on skill and technique. The Australian riders are very talented and can include people like Darcy Ward, Dakota North, Sam Masters who have the confidence and talent to become great speedway riders. Some riders like Freddie Lindgren ride not just in the UK but in other countries leagues. Most riders do this to gain experience in other league and with other riders. It shows how they can work as a team and gel as a group.

In the next month the speedway world cup is happening and hopefully Great Britain can do well in this.
