Commend the guys

Last night at Belle Vue there was another rain off, disappointing I know but things like this happen we all know, but it seems to be a lot at the moment. So having withdrawal symptoms from being spoilt from the speedway world cup there was some premier league action with Ipswich witches v Somerset rebels.

So sky did their bit with the premier league. The weather was dry and with some good racing going on, everything was fine, until the rain came….

It seemed to rain from no where, although the riders agreed to carry on. Jason Doyle from Somerset was on fire, he got a paid maximum and was one of the cleanest there. Due to the rain it caused a lot of dirt into mud in a way and if you were not in front you would get very dirty indeed.

Although there was an incident between Dakota North and Claus Vissing where it turned out Claus had a suspected collarbone injury, so he did not ride for the rest of the meeting. So that is a blow.

The Aussies were there in full force, the young one like Cameron Heeps and Rohan Tungate did extremely well in the muddy and slippery conditions. But to all the lads on both teams going out there and having a good go of it and a win for Ipswich as well, seemed a good home win!!

Monday night skidding-The play offs

It is Monday again and that usually means one thing, it’s speedway time!!! It is the month of September and two words come to mind…. play-offs. These two legged play offs are where the action happens where four teams battle it out to make it to the final of the elite league.

The first legs are:

King’s Lynn Stars vs Poole Pirates

Lakeside Hammers vs Eastbourne Eagles

These teams will battle over two legs to make it to the final which is also two legs. Tonight at King’s Lynn, Poole are injury prone at the crucial part of the season with captain Davey Watt out and also Jason Doyle. So the team have got in guest riders.

The two races are on at the same time, so sky sports who sponsor the league have people at both meetings, with TV coverage of both races.

Both meetings were very close in scores, but the two man band of Poole pulled through with the two infamous Australian’s Darcy Ward and team mate and friend Chris Holder.

Lakeside had a good lead on Eastbourne but had a disappointed end with Lewis Bridger’s double points ride gave a few points to Eastbourne to catch up to local rivals Lakeside.

In heat 15 for King’s Lynn Stars vs Poole Pirates was… Iversen and Bjerre vs Ward and Holder.

In heat 15 for Lakeside Hammers vs Eastbourne Eagles was… J. Davidsson, Richardson vs Bridger and Pedersen.

The final scores were:

King’s Lynn 48-45 Poole Pirates

Lakeside Hammers 47-46 Eastbourne Eagles

Wait till the 26th where the second legs will happen to determine the final of the speedway elite league of 2011. It is a guarantee that there will be a new winner from the past two years of Wolverhampton in 2009 and Coventry in 2010.
